CARING FOR YOUR NEW STONE SURFACE

Natural stone countertops are porous and require a certain amount of maintenance. But an understanding of how to properly care for your new stone surface will keep it beautiful for years to come.

Avoid exposing your stone to oils, citric acids, oven cleaners, nail polish remover, or other similar solvents for long periods of time due to the possibility of staining. If you do get any on your stone, rinse it off immediately with water.

Do not drop or pound heavy or sharp items on your stone surface.

Do not cut directly on tops with knives or other tools.

Avoid putting hot items on your tops as they may burn your sealer, making it susceptible to staining.

Reseal your stone surfaces once a year as preventative maintenance. We recommend the use of a solvent-based sealer.

It is recommended that you use a stone cleaner for daily cleaning. However, you may also use mild, soapy water, making sure it does not contain lotion or dye additives, as well as other non-abrasive, ammonia free cleaners.

For more stubborn food residue, try a mesh covered sponge with your favorite daily cleaner.
